Finally, for all those people who've been checking this site for the last month and then asking us why we haven't updated it yet, here it is, our first entry.
So, after 19 days in Tasmania, 20hrs in Melbourne, 3 hrs at Melbourne Airport and 9hrs in a plane we made it to Bangkok, Thailand.
Our first impression was 'Oh crap - we may die' No seatbelts in the Taxi on the way from the airport, No working Speedo, No apparent road rules. It seems that it's more a set of road guidelines. For example, if the light is red, you might want to stop- but you might not. Same goes for pedestrian crossings. Depends on how they feel I guess.
We spent 2 days in Bangkok doing the usual touristy things, Chatachat market, shopping, and being massaged within an inch of our lives (thanks everyone at SKM, Melbourne), eating and fending off annoying Tuk Tuk drivers.
Day 3 saw us head to Patong, Phuket.
Bascially that involved a really hectic schedule of swimming in the pool, relaxing by the pool, drinking cocktails by the pool, drinking cocktails in the bar, massages, eating, and drinking cocktails again.
We did actually make it into Patong to look around but got sick of being asked if we wanted a massage, taxi or suit so headed back to the resort for more hard work by the pool. (We did actually see a guy who's T-Shirt read 'No I don't want a f***ing Taxi, Massage or Suit' so at least it wasn't just us that got sick of it).
After 5 days here we're managing to understand Tenglish (what we like to call the language Thai people use to communicate with us). Sometimes I think Thai people might even understand us!
To summerise the trip so far:
- Favorite place - Pool side, Novotel Resort, Patong
- Favorite activity - Massage (of course)
- Favorite food - fresh pinapple at food stalls by the side of the road
- Least favotire place - Patong Town, annoying spruikers

Will All of the people that aneserwd you as to Phuket being lame are correct.I know that they sound pessimistic but it is true, for all of us that live here in Thailand,we all understand the country especially those of us that travel alot here.Phuket is way over rated, too expensive, too touristy and just like Pattaya or Pat Pong but with a beach.Maybe 20 years ago it was good but not now.I know from 1st hand experience because when I first moved here I stayed in Patong for months and now I have no intention of ever going back.Krabi,yes,Phuket,no. I always say this and it is true. for me.Koh Chang is the best/most beautiful island in the country. It 2nd only in size to Phuket but is a 100x's better in every way shape and form other then the ocean is a tad bit clearer in Phuket but that is tiny compared to how much better Koh Chang is than Phuket.TRUST US.
