So we're still in Bangkok, NOT as planned.
It taked 3 days to get a visa to go to Cambodia or Vietnam so we're stuck for a few days. We've been to a tour agent and she showed us 1 day island bus trips we can do. Good idea to get a bit of sun and get away from city.
The Tourist book said, You leave Bangkok with a gift, A Smokers Cough!!!
Huh, it is a city I suppose.
We heard about Australia being ruined on East side. Bad timing. I hope the wildlife are ok. We're due to get there in 3 weeks. So I also hope it's stil ok to go. We'll be inland too though.
The hostels have been fine.
We are currently in http://www.sawadee.com/hotel/bangkok/diamondhouse/
See link....you may have to copy and paste it but look at the rooms!! Not what you think a 'hostel' would look like. It's 8pounds a night and its nicer than most of the hostels I've stayed in UK!!
We're in the bunk bed room, look at pic. Hot shower, TV. We made the mistake of watching a backpacker film last night! It was a horror, but I slept ok surprisingly.
Internet is everywhere so no trouble keeping in touch. Its 60p an hour. Meals are ok too, 50p from street cart!!!! or 1pound in cafes. We're spending nothing at the moment. Even the all day bus trip was 25pound. Including meals, coach, all entry tickets to museum, kwai bridge and tigers. Thats the most we've spent on anything.
Clothes are expensive. Nothing is labeled or priced. They look you up and down and give you the highest figure. Fabric add labour, multiplied by skin colour equals rich white man!! :(
Most Tshirts are 10-15 pounds, you can haggle down to 8pound but then I may aswel get them in England. Thai's pay less. Everything is based on skin colour. Dresses are 20pounds!!! Considering they'll be soaked with sweat, ripped and thrown away, it's not worth it.
