Hey everyone!
Yesterday, I went to the grocery store and got some food for dinner. When I was leaving, there was a man on the street playing the guitar and this really drunk lady was dancing and singing around him. Pretty funny stuff if you ask me...that is always entertaining. I just kind of smiled, shook my head and walked on. Afterwards, I went back to my room to get ready. Megan and Steph went to the Purple Turtle for Happy Hour and I was going to meet them there. After I got ready, I saw Jason and he was all decked out for Bryony's Beach Bop that night. He was wearing a sombrero and a fake mustache....it looked hilarious. I tried really hard to get him to go to the Purple Turtle with me dressed like that and after talking him into it, he told me he would go if I wore my outfit too. Well my outfit wasn't really anything..just capris, tank top with a swimsuit top underneath, a lay, and sunglasses...so I agreed. On my way back to the room, I saw Nick and told him to go to the PT. He asked me why because our pub was open downstairs and when I told him people were there for cheap drinks at Happy Hour, he told me Happy Hour ended at 8. Well it was just a little passed 8, so I decided to just go down to the pub downstairs instead. Everyone showed up and it was hilarious! Bryony had a full wet suit, goggles, a snorkel and fins and some of the student assistants made mermaid costumes. There were a bunch of guys who came dressed in khakis, polos, sailors hats, aviators, and fake mustaches. It was sooo funny! There were a ton of clever outfits. We hung out there for a while and when it closed, we headed to a place called Thirst Lounge...all still in our costumes...so that was funny. We all danced and had a great time. Megan got pretty tired and wanted to go back, so Taylor and I went back with her to Jesus College. After she left, we decided that we still wanted to go back out, so we went back to the Thirst Lounge. When we got there, we looked around for a little bit and couldn't find anyone. They had all left! We didn't know if they went back to Jesus or to another club, so we walked around to all the clubs that we knew of. We went to Escape, PoNaNa, the Purple Turtle, and Mood and asked all the bouncers if they had seen any Americans dressed like us (in beach costumes). None of them had seen them, so we went to the chicken place, got some food, and went back to Jesus College. When we got back, we knocked on people's doors and some of them were open. Pretty much every door that we opened, there was someone sleeping...so we figured everyone came back. We found some of the other guys and I stayed up talking with them for a while and then finally went to bed around 4am.
Thank goodness today was Saturday, because I could actually sleep in! I took full advantage of it and slept until around noon. Lunch was served at 12:30, so I went to our dining hall and ate lunch. Afterwards, I came back to my room and got ready. Today, we had an excursion to the Blenheim Palace in Woodstock. This was where Winston Churchill was born and lived. We all got on the bus at 2pm and headed over there. It was a really pretty palace, but the only thing I had to compare it to was the Palace of Versailles, which was MUCH bigger. We had a guided tour set up for 3pm, so we had some time to kill. We walked around the main courtyard and walked over some gravel that apparently your not supposed to walk on. The police man, with his hat and cap, blew his whistle at us and we ran off it. I don't really know exactly what is so good about that gravel, but there must be something special about it. It rained the entire time, so that kind of sucked. It probably would have looked a lot prettier if it had been sunny. At 3pm, we met everyone out front and went on our guided tour. It was much shorter than the one at Versailles. I was able to see a bunch of beautiful rooms and the room that Winston Churchill was born in. Back in that time, they used to grow the boy's hair out and then cut it off when they were a little bit older. They had a painting of Churchill with his long curls and then had a display of the actual curls that were cut off when he was 5 years old. It was kind of strange, but cool at the same time. It was neat because there was a photographer that came around and took pictures of the rooms in the Blenheim Palace in the late 1800s...and they had the photos displayed in each room, so we could see exactly what it looked like so long ago. After the tour was over, we went outside and walked around the gardens. We didn't have too much time, so we couldn't go too far, but the ones we did see were pretty. After it was all said and done, we had to be back on the bus at 4:45pm to head back to Oxford. When we got back, we all went to eat at a place called Que Pasa. We thought it was Mexican food, which I was craving really badly....but it ended up having everything, with Tapas being their main thing. Megan and I were really hungry, so we shared some nachos and then each got our own plate of pesto penne pasta. I really wanted the pasta with meatballs, but they were out of meatballs. We hung out there for quite a while because there were a lot of us that went, but now I'm back at Jesus College. I don't know what is going on tonight...I am pretty tired, but it is our last Saturday here, so I will probably go out with everyone. Anyways, hope everything is going well!!
Love and miss all of you!
